SPECIALIST REFERRALS

CLINICAL PATHOLOGY

AT NARANGBA VET

We are committed to providing the highest standard of care for every pet. While many conditions can be managed within our clinic, some cases benefit from the expertise of a veterinary specialist. When this is needed, we will guide you through the referral process and ensure your pet receives the most appropriate level of care.

WHEN A REFERRAL MAY BE RECOMMENDED

Your veterinarian may suggest referral to a specialist for conditions that require advanced diagnostics, specialised equipment, or highly focused expertise. This may include:

  • Complex orthopaedic or soft tissue surgery

  • Advanced medical cases

  • Neurological conditions

  • Cardiology

  • Dermatology

  • Ophthalmology

  • Oncology

  • Behavioural concerns

  • Advanced imaging, such as CT or MRI

We make recommendations based on what is best for your pet’s health, comfort, and long-term well-being.

HOW THE REFERRAL PROCESS WORKS

We will discuss the reasons for referral in detail and answer any questions you may have. Our team will:

  • Provide a full summary of your pet’s medical history

  • Share test results, radiographs, and relevant notes with the specialist

  • Help you arrange an appointment

  • Stay in communication with the specialist throughout the process

Once your pet has been seen by the specialist, we continue to work closely with them to coordinate ongoing care and follow-up treatment.

WORKING TOGETHER FOR THE BEST OUTCOME

Specialists often work as an extension of our team. By combining our general practice care with their focused expertise, we ensure your pet receives comprehensive and informed treatment. Your pet returns to us for ongoing management unless the specialist recommends continued visits.
