DOG VACCINATIONS & WELLNESS CARE

DOG VACCINATIONS
WHY VACCINES & ANNUAL WELLNESS VISITS MATTER

PUPPIES
Young pups receive maternal antibodies in the early weeks, but these fade and may interfere with vaccination. That’s why we recommend vaccination at around 6-8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks. During the puppy check-up, we’ll also discuss key preventative health care and perform a complete physical examination, checking for overall well-being and possible birth defects or genetic predispositions.

ADULTS
As dogs mature, immunity may decline over time. Annual booster vaccinations combined with a thorough health check are crucial to maintain protection. Regular visits are also important to detect early signs of illness and support your dog through every stage of life.

SENIORS
From around seven years of age, dogs can encounter age-related health concerns. Routine examinations help us identify and manage issues early, from joint health to organ function, so your companion remains comfortable and active.
WHAT OUR COMPREHENSIVE DOG VISIT INCLUDES
We examine eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, skin, coat, joints, and overall body condition, plus heart and lung assessment to detect murmurs or respiratory issues.
Based on the check-up, we’ll provide tailored advice for your dog’s future care. This might include further diagnostics, prescription medications, or adjustments to at-home routines.
Advice tailored to your dog’s breed, age, and lifestyle.
Protection from worms, fleas, ticks, heartworm, and a vaccination strategy designed to suit your pet.
We encourage you to bring any questions or concerns about behaviour, diet, or lifestyle, and we’ll take time to answer fully.
WHAT OUR COMPREHENSIVE DOG VISIT INCLUDES
We protect dogs against the most common and dangerous diseases with the C5 vaccination, which covers:
Canine Parvovirus: Often causes severe, potentially fatal diarrhoea and vomiting; the virus survives for long periods in the environment.
Distemper: A highly infectious virus that affects the respiratory and nervous systems, and may lead to seizures, balance issues, or blindness.
Canine Hepatitis (Adenovirus): Can cause rapid liver damage and long-term health problems in survivors.
Kennel Cough (Parainfluenza, Bordetella, Adenovirus): Spreads easily where dogs gather (parks, kennels, shows). Symptoms include coughing, sneezing, a runny nose, poor appetite, and lethargy.
Maintaining up-to-date core vaccinations protects not only your dog but also supports the well-being of the wider canine community.
BEYOND VACCINES: YEAR-ROUND PROTECTION
Heartworm Prevention: We recommend the annual ProHeart SR-12 injection, which offers 12-month continuous protection against heartworm disease, a safer and more convenient alternative to monthly pills or chews.
Flea & Tick Control: For long-lasting protection, we may suggest an annual injection such as Bravecto Quantum, which works quickly to kill fleas and ticks and offers extended coverage. Flea control may also be available in spot-on treatments or tasty chews. We’ll help you choose the best fit for your dog and lifestyle.

POST-VACCINATION CARE
After vaccination, a mild reaction is relatively common. Your dog might feel a little off-colour, or the injection site may be tender. These reactions usually resolve within a day or two with rest and hydration. If symptoms appear more severe or linger longer, please contact us immediately.
